The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus, and Alexei I. Ekimov in recognition of their “discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.” In response to this, Professor Pang Daiwen was invited to attend the “Bringing You Closer to Material Science” science popularization lecture series at the College of Chemistry at Nankai University, where he interpreted the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He introduced the development history, luminescence principle, and application fields of quantum dots in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, enhancing the public’s understanding and knowledge of the properties and applications of quantum dots. Professor Pang Daiwen has been devoted to the research of precise preparation methods of biomedical quantum dots for many years and has been working to promote the application of quantum dots in the fields of single-virus dynamic tracking and backlight display.
