Professor Pang Daiwen’s team is dedicated to enhancing the optical performance of quantum dots and breaking through the stability of light, heat, water, and oxygen resistance. They have developed quantum dots that are resistant to high-temperature processing and, based on this, have pioneered a quantum dot light diffusion plate backlight technology that integrates uniform light and light conversion with independent intellectual property rights. Not only is its performance superior to other technologies, but it also reduces costs by more than 50%. This independent innovation achievement, which is described as “anti-stranglehold”, won the Special Prize for Technological Invention in Tianjin in 2023 and was also identified by the Tianjin Science and Technology Evaluation Center as “reaching the international leading level”. Currently, quantum dot light diffusion plates have been mass-produced and used in more than 2 million quantum dot televisions.
